“Have a lot on your plate”

(Sal is talking to a neighbor Paul… )

Paul: How’s your new job?

Sal: So far so good.

Paul: Are they working you hard?

Sal: Oh yeah. I’ve got a lot on my plate.

Paul: Are your co-workers helping you?

Sal: You said it. But I think I’m a slow learner.

Paul: I don’t believe that. I know you’re smart.

Sal: Thank you. I know things will get better when I get into the swing of things.

Paul: That shouldn’t take much longer.

Sal: I hope not.

Dave: “The last part of the game was very exciting.”

Jerry: “You said it.”

* get into the swing of things:

“I was surprised I got into the swing of things so easily.”
