“Take it out on (someone)”

(Alice and Rob are in the kitchen … )

Alice: Rob you have been on my back all day. What is your problem?

Rob: No I haven’t. I think you’re making it up.

Alice: You’ve criticized everything I’ve done this morning.

Rob: I think you’re much too sensitive.

Alice: I think I know what your problem is.

Rob: What do you mean problem?

Alice: You had an accident with the company car that you got yesterday.

Rob: It wasn’t my fault.

Alice: Well it wasn’t my fault so don’t take it out on me.

Rob: I guess you’re right. I’ll back off.
